How to Purchase New York Islanders Tickets

Wednesday, October 14th, 2009
Al Terry asked:

New Yorkers swear by their sports teams, and they have nine of them for the major four sports – basketball, baseball, hockey, and football. The two ice hockey teams based in New York are the New York Islanders and the New York Rangers. Whenever the New York Islanders play in New York, obtaining the New York Islanders tickets is never easy. Most of the New York Islanders tickets are sold out well in advance of the season, and if you have missed your chance to procure your tickets, you have only one recourse – procuring your New York Islanders tickets through the services of the New York ticket broker.

The New York ticket broker is that one entity who can assure you of your New York Islanders tickets for the games you wish to watch. All the ticket brokers have their unique sources through which they procure your tickets for you. All you need to do is to tell them your requirements, and they will ensure you get your tickets in time. Your New York Islanders tickets will be delivered to your door.

For your New York Islanders tickets, you will need to pay a little extra, over and above the face value of the tickets. It is obvious that the ticket brokers have to pay that little extra to get those tickets for you. The extra you pay is to cover the costs incurred towards obtaining those New York Islanders tickets. What you get for the extra little you pay is the guarantee of the New York Islanders tickets of your choice.

The Other Sources For The Tickets

You may wish to risk buying your New York Islanders tickets from sources other than the licensed ticket brokers of New York. Many people have tried to procure their tickets from dubious sources, such as the many re-sale forums; the auction sites, such as eBay; and from those scalpers you see in swarms around the venues where your favorite team is playing. Procuring your New York Islanders tickets from these sources is quite risky, as you are never assured of the genuineness of the tickets. Many have been scammed by the fake tickets from these sources.

You, too, need to be cautious and should purchase your New York Islanders tickets from the reliable New York ticket brokers, if unable to lay your hands on them through the box office.

The Team

The New York Islanders are the second of the two New York ice hockey teams. Formed in 1972, through a franchise awarded to Roy Boe, the owner of New York Nets of the American Basketball Association, the New York Islanders play in the Atlantic Division of the National Hockey League (NHL), and they are based at Uniondale, New York.

The New York Islanders have won four consecutive Stanley Cups – the championship trophy of the NHL – in the 1979-80, 1980-81, 1981-82, 1982-83 seasons. They also have three consecutive Prince of Wales Trophies - awarded to the Eastern Conference (formerly the Wales Conference) playoff champions - for the 1982, 1983, and 1984 seasons, under their belt.

Ny Rangers Tickets - History and Buying Tips

Tuesday, October 13th, 2009
Al Terry asked:

The city of New York has nine teams representing the four major sports – baseball, basketball, football, and ice hockey. Two teams represent New York in ice hockey – the New York (NY) Rangers, and the New York Islanders. The NY Rangers are based at the Madison Square Garden, whereas the New York Islanders play from the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale - New York. The NY Rangers is the older of the two teams and started playing in the National Hockey League (NHL) in 1926.

The NY Rangers came into being as part of a franchise granted the Madison Square Garden by the NHL during the 1926-27 season. As the then president of the Madison Square Garden – G. L. ‘Tex’ Rickard - was responsible for building this team; the team came to be known as ‘Tex’s’ Rangers. This is how the team later came to be named the New York Rangers.

The NY Rangers have won four Stanley Cups – the championship trophy of the NHL. The NY Rangers did what no other team has ever done since – win their first Stanley Cup in their sophomore year. They won this during the 1927-28 season and followed it thrice more during the 1932-33, 1939-40, and 1993-94 seasons. They won this last Cup in front of their cheering home crowd at the Madison Square Garden.

The New Yorkers are proud of their team, which has won the Prince of Wales Trophy three times. The Prince of Wales Trophy is the NHL trophy awarded to the Eastern Conference playoff champions. The NY Rangers have also won the President’s Trophy twice. This is presented by the NHL to the team that finishes with the best record in the league during the regular season.

The Home Ground

The Madison Square Garden is home of the NY Rangers since 1926. That was the third Madison Square Garden, and since 1968, they have moved into the fourth Madison Square Garden. The Garden has 18,20 seats for hockey, and is unquestionably the most beautiful arena in the world.

The NY Rangers honors its greatest players by retiring their jersey numbers, never to be worn by any other Rangers team member. So far, the Rangers have retired four jersey numbers, and these numbers will hang – forever – from the rafters of the Madison Square Garden.

The Rangers Tickets

More than 25 home games are scheduled to be played by the NY Rangers until the first week of April 2007 at the Madison Square Garden. This is a great opportunity for the fans of the Rangers to watch their favorite team playing close up. With the games being played close to home, the NY Rangers tickets are definitely not going to be easy to come by.

With all the fans hankering to watch the games, the NY Rangers tickets would all have been sold out. It may already be too late in the day to expect to procure your NY Rangers tickets at the venue.

Your best option is the reputed ticket brokers, who have the resources to deliver your NY Rangers tickets to your door.

New York Insider Shoestring Budget Travel Tips

Friday, September 25th, 2009
Al Terry asked:

Watching a visitor enter New York City for the first time has always been the equivalent of watching a deer in the headlights. The fast pace, noise and traffic just seem to startle my friends when we go into the controlled recklessness flowing through the streets of Manhattan. Growing up right near New York it has always been my playground, and perhaps something I took for granted as I was younger. There is no question in my mind New York is the best city and offers the most and best of whatever your desire be. If great food is your forte, well the best chefs thrive in the alleys, nightlife? The city has the best you will find and you will continue to find new hot clubs, concerts? almost every artist considers New York their favorite venue, sports? Come on the Yankee’s and the Mets The Giants and the Jets? Oh, and lets not forget New York Broadway Theater, the best musicals, plays and shows anywhere!

So with so much to do it is no wonder why friends become lost and a bit overwhelmed by New York’s addicted charm, and if I was not there to guide them they would probably just sit in the car wondering where to go. Most people think a trip to New York is going to hit the wallet pretty hard, but believe it or not a great time can be had on a small budget if you are willing to go a bit off the beaten path.

My first recommendation would be a nice, safe and inexpensive place to stay. The going rate for an average hotel room in Manhattan is around 300.00, not chump change, especially when you are use to paying about 80.00 for a decent room. A couple important factors to take into account here, you want to be safe, you want a well lit area and you want to be near transportation. Lets not forget, you are a stranger in the largest city in the world, a dive in a questionable neighborhood is out of the question for a family vacation. So where in the world are we gonna find something which covers such bases? The New Yorker Hotel is my favorite place to stay, built in the 1930s the rooms have a very unique style and cost is in the 100.00 dollar range. Located near the Javis Center and Madison Square Garden you are in the heart of Manhattan entertainment. The location is close to Times Square and on top of everything you have the major connecting trains for cheap transportation to any location. Close to all the popular Theaters makes The New Yorker a great choice for Broadway junkies.

Now that we have cut the cost of your stay more then in half, what about eating? Dinner in New York must cost and arm and a leg. This is very true, if you want some of the finest cuisine from a five star restaurant you can easily head toward Central Park and eat at the touted “Tavern On The Green,” but if you are just looking for some great food at a reasonable price there is always a special to be found. The trick to eating great and keeping within budget is to travel a bit further from all the neon lights and tourist sections of the city. New Yorkers are very friendly and helpful, so asking a few questions of where to find great specials and happy hours can easily have you discovering hot happy hours with delicious half price appetizers and drinks. Barrow Street Ale House located in the West Village offers dollar fifty import drafts and a forty cent wing special, with a fun environment. The ale house may not be five star cuisine, but come on, buck fifty imports and hot wings in New York City? I cannot think of anything better I would rather do.

The perfect room, full stomach and couple drinks for under ten dollars and the night is becoming alive all of the sudden. The club scene maybe something you want to hop into for a while, the New York Deejays are the best in the world and the dancing is nothing short of spectacular. The New York nightlife provides many events as well, such as, hot sporting events like Yankee baseball, Knicks basketball and Rangers Ice Hockey, boxing at the Garden is always a popular venue. If sports are not your ticket, the music scene can host everything from a major band at Madison Square Garden to a hot local jam band at The Wetlands. Broadway Theater is one of the largest attractions for visitors, and for your first time in the city it would almost be a crime not to go and check out at least one show.

New York events can sometimes be difficult to get a ticket for, especially if it is last minute. These tips will help get you a ticket and try to save some money. The best bet is always to purchase direct from the box office, but if you missed the boat find a New York ticket broker, the tickets may cost twenty to thirty percent more, however, you will be able to choose your seat and be safe from scalping or fake tickets. An inexpensive way to get a great seat is to simply go to the will call of the venue and see if anyone has canceled last minute. Many times tickets are held for performers or stage hands and the individuals they invited were unable to attend, making a great seat available at face value last minute. Avoid scalpers in New York, they are to risky and more times then not you will pay a lot of money and never enter to see the show. Try a New York ticket broker before even thinking about buying from the risky streets of the city. The last tip for finding that hard to get ticket, hop online and find a forum dedicated to the show you want to see. For example if you want to go to a Broadway show such as “Phantom Of The Opera” and it is all sold out, post to a group that is dedicates to the show on Broadway and ask if anyone will be going with an extra ticket. Now you have just got a great seat at face value and made a new friend on your New York vacation.

The best Tourist Spot on the Planet is Probably New York City

Sunday, September 20th, 2009
Kurt Clark asked:

The best tourist hot spot on the planet is probably New York City, after all the Big Apple is the dubbed the Capital of The World. So, naturally millions of visitors flood the city each year and in turn, the city strives to satisfy their sight seeing needs. The top ten most visited sites in New York city are the Empire State Building, Statue Of Liberty, Grand Central Terminal, Rockefeller Center, Ellis Island Immigration Museum, Staten Island Ferry, American Museum of Natural History, Central Park, Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Museum of Modern Art.

The Empire State building located in 5th avenue measures 1,453 feet in height and is the tallest building in all of New York City. The building has 102 floors, but this shouldn’t intimidate one, for plenty of elevators are available to make touring much easier. In average about 15,000 people visit the building per day, so it’s obvious that this is one of the most popular sites to visit. Probably one of the best things this structure has to offer is that once up on the observatory of the building, located on the 82nd floor, you can gaze down and observe the city in its entirety. Visiting the Empire State building is relatively cheap adults gain admission for $15.50, youth from 12-17 years of age for $14.50, children from 6-11 for $10.50 and anyone younger enters free of charge. A helpful tip to save some time waiting in line for tickets is that, you may buy admission tickets online and print them out yourself.

Probably the most popular icon of New York City is the Statue Of Liberty. This may be because; it represents what this country is all about, freedom. Following the Empire State Building most tourists visit Statue Of Liberty. To get to the Statue of Liberty, which resides on Liberty Island, you must take a ferry either from Liberty State Park in Jersey City, New Jersey or Battery Park in New York City. If you plan on visiting Liberty Island, you should be aware that a visit on average is about three hours, if you take a tour. The Island provides plenty of area for picnics and small family gatherings and even a Junior Ranger program available for children. The observatory all the way on top of the Statue is closed to the public, due to security reasons. Admission to Liberty Island and all it has to offer is quite inexpensive. Adults pay $11.50, Senior Citizens $9.50, Children $4.50 and Children under 3 years of age gain free admission. Liberty Island opens at 8:30 am and the last ferry leaves its dock at 6:30 pm.

Admission to Grand Central Station is completely free, which might be one of the best bargains when touring New York City. Grand Central is located in the heart of midtown Manhattan, on 42nd Street and Park Avenue. The Terminal offers more than just train tracks. The walls and ceilings cathedral styled with rich colors of blue and green. Grand Central Station has a vast number of shops, boutiques, florists, restaurants and even art galleries. The Station built in 1913 is full of secrets. Atop the structure there is the Campbell Apartment, a luxurious hideaway for the 1930’s tycoon John W. Campbell. When you visit keep your eyes peeled for anything else out of the ordinary of any other Station. Rockefeller Center, another completely free destination located the Big Apple. Rockefeller Center consists of everything between 47th and 50th Streets and 4th and 5th Avenues. NBC headquarters are located in the premise and shows such as The Today Show and Saturday Night Live are broadcasted from there. Atop the GE Building is the famous Rainbow Room, the star of which is the silver and gold room itself, complete with a slow rotating dance floor. Rockefeller Center is most popular around the Holiday Christmas season. The gigantic tree is mounted at the center of the plaza each year overlooking the ice-skating rink. In order to skate you can bring your own gear or rent on the premise. The world famous Radio City Music Hall is another part of Rockefeller Center and there are almost an endless number of stores on the surrounding areas, making this one of the memorable places to visit in New York City.

The American Museum of Natural History is located in Central Park West at West 79th Street. This is the sixth most visited site in New York City. The Museum of Natural History is the perfect place for anyone in thirst of knowledge. The exhibits cover everything from the beginning of time to the present. The museum has the Hall Of Biodiversity, a visual representation of the scope of life on Earth and why it needs to be protected. Admission to the museum is $12.00 for Adults, $7.00 for Children and $9.00 for Senior Citizens and Students. Museum admission plus the Space Show at the Rose Center is $21.00 for adults, $15.50 for seniors and students and $12.50 for children. This Museum has the finest exhibits you’ll find anywhere because, when Museum President Morris K. Jessup took his position in 1881, he directed the museum into an age of exploration, sending expeditions to every continent of the globe.

Central Park consists of over 800 acres of parkland. Don’t expect to cover all of the land, but there are plenty of crucial points tourists must visit. The four corners of Central Park are 59th Street on the South, 110th Street on the North, Central Park West on the West and 5th Avenue on the East. There are a number of tours one can take in Central Park such as the Bike Tour, the Central Park Conservancy Guided tours which are free of charge and tours that cover either mid, south or north park. Central Park has two restaurants on its premise and an almost infinite number of concession stands throughout the park paths. Some things to do while in Central park other than walk around and take in its beauty are to take a row boat or Gondola ride in the Lake, visit the Central Park Zoo, rent a bike or roller blades and attend a concert at either Philharmonic In The Park, the Metropolitan Opera In The Park or Central Park Summerstage. A whole day or even a week might be spent visiting everything the park has to offer, but the stated above are the most popular attractions.

New York City has many more attraction than the ones stated above. Those are the top ten most visited and popular because of their easy access and relatively good deals. If you ever decided to visit New York City for the first time, those are the must go places. They cover the basics of what New York City stands for and is all about and are sure to leave a good impression and memorable events in your mind.

New York City-A Sports Fan Paradise

Thursday, August 20th, 2009
Albert Alexander asked:

New York City is most definitely a city that loves its sports and cheers for the home team. New York is probably the best represented city and state in this country when it comes to major league teams. I’ve never quite seen anything like it but I honestly can’t imagine a night when there isn’t some sort of major sporting event taking place somewhere in this great city.

The National Hockey League that almost wasn’t is back and going strong. New York is represented well by the Ranger’s who have made a wonderful deal this year to woo Shanahan away from the Red Wings. They play their home games at Madison Square Garden and have some of the most loyal fans. Even if you’re say from Detroit and visiting, and if the Rangers are playing at home then it’s the perfect opportunity (assuming you can get a ticket) to drop in and see how Shanahan is adjusting to life in the Big Apple and if he misses life back at the Joe.

Putting hockey aside for now, there are many other professional sports you can enjoy watching while you’re visiting New York City. I think there are a few baseball fans in this city somewhere. I say a few because it seems that they had to create two baseball teams in order to contain all the fans. I will say though that these fans are loyal to a fault to the teams they support. The New York Mets and the New York Yankees represent this great city in Major League Baseball and both teams draw loyal support from all their fans.

The amazing thing to me is that the double-teaming didn’t end with baseball. It seems that New York City also has two National Football League teams as well. The New York Giants and the New York Jets both represent this fair city to football fans across the country. While I have no favorite or even preference for all these teams and really have no idea how a city can survive with this sort of heated division. Obviously they aren’t as rabid as some hockey fans can tend to be or there would be civil war within the streets.

All joking aside, it seems that so far there is only one NBA team and they are the New York Knicks. I won’t go into how unfair it is to so improperly represent hockey and basketball because these guys might actually be getting the better end of the bargain-the entire city roots for them, not just half. With so many major sporting opportunities it’s amazing that men in this city get anything at all accomplished without carrying a portable pocket television with them at all times.

I don’t know about your house, but in my house it’s difficult enough to schedule important events in our family lives around one local team for each sport (and we don’t even have a baseball team). I can’t imagine how women in New York do it. But to all of you women and the men you love, I have to say kudos for supporting your great teams and giving your many visitors such wonderful opportunities to watch our sports when we’re away from home too. It’s hard to identify one thing about this city that is the greatest but that just may be it.

About New York Rangers Tickets

Wednesday, August 19th, 2009
Al Terry asked:

The New York rangers’ tickets are the most difficult tickets to procure. If you go by the waiting list, then it will take ages for you to get the New York rangers tickets for a single game. You will always remain next in line for the New York rangers’ tickets without getting the ticket in hand.

If you are planning to watch a game of the nets, then you need to book your New York rangers tickets months in advance. Then too there is no guarantee that you will get the New York rangers tickets. Thus, the best way to procure your New York rangers tickets is via a legitimate broker. To get your tickets, you will just have to inform them how many tickets you require and specify the seat you would like to have. With that, your work ends. Your New York rangers tickets will be delivered to you in a short time. Doesn’t that make life a lot easier?

About The New York Rangers

The New York Rangers are an ice hockey team that is based in New York City. They are a very old team in the National Hockey League scenario. They are also one of the groups of teams that are considered as the Original Six. The New York Rangers play their home games at Madison Square Garden. The New York Rangers were the Cup favorites in the mid 1990s to late 1990s.

In the past the biggest rivals for the New York Rangers were the New York Americans. Both the teams played their home games at Madison Square Garden. Thus a rivalry emerged. As a result even today they played very intense games with each other. In fact for quite sometime, the games between New York Rangers and New York Americans were the most popular matches and the tickets were in tremendous demand. Both the New York Rangers and its arch rival the New York Americans met at least 94 times in the period between 1926 and 1942. Both the teams had put up an equally tough fight.

The New York Rangers were a very classy team. The press often called them the “Park Avenue Rangers”. In contrast the media titled the New York Americans as the “Bowery Americans”.

The Rangers have always loved publicity. Even in the past, the equation was clear to them. The more publicity they got, the more the tickets were sold. Thus, you will notice that veterans like Johnny Bruno and Willis (Jersey) Jones were far ahead of their rival equivalent Joe McGregor in terms of publicity. The Rangers made it a point to gain publicity wherever they could.

By the time the World War II approached, the Rangers had more fan following than the Americans. Most of the American fans were deflecting to the Rangers. This was so as the Rangers, unlike the Americans, were making playoffs every year. In the season of 1941-42, the Americans disbanded. That was the end of one of the most publicized rivalry of the early National Hockey League.

Being the most populous city in the United States, it is the world center for finance, politics, communications, music, fashion and culture. The city that never sleeps is the nickname for this special place because at any time during the night you can go out into the city that really does never close down. On your New York City NY vacation, you can go out whenever you want during the morning, noon, or night and you will not be alone.

Getting around during your New York City NY vacation is absolutely not a problem. The Metropolitan Transit Authority runs all of the subways and buses in the city. Over four million people ride the subway every day and you can take a ride for two dollars. Although if you prefer not to ride the subway, you can hail one of the 13,000 yellow cabs that will be happy to take you anywhere you want to go. The average trip in a NYC yellow cab costs about nine dollars.

From Radio City Music Hall, a Broadway play and the American Museum of Natural History to the Statue of Liberty, Central Park and Rockefeller Center, there will be so much to do and see that you may have trouble deciding what you want.

If you want to reflect on the past and share a prayer or quiet moment with those lost in the tragedies of 9/11, the area around Ground Zero is open to the public. A walkway and a large fence prevents anyone from actually being able to enter the site, but you can easily view the area from the east, south and north sides.

And the food, always about the food! You can start the day with a real bagel and your favorite topping. With literally thousands of places to dine in the city, whatever you desire is here waiting for you. Want to eat out on a budget? No problem! Check out any one of the hundreds of Manhattan deli food bars where you serve yourself and pay based on the weight of your selections.

Enjoy sports? There is always a professional team playing in the NYC area such as the Yankees or Mets, the Jets or Giants, the Knicks, Liberty or Nets and the Rangers. The NBA store is located on Fifth Avenue in Midtown Manhattan and ESPN can be found in Times Square just for starters.

Where to stay while on your New York City NY vacation? Have you considered staying in one of the vacation rental apartments? Or how about one of the many available suite hotel rentals? While rooms in NYC are smaller than in many other cities, you and your family or friends can be so much more comfortable in a place with a kitchenette and private bedrooms. And the price may pleasantly surprise you.
